Finally a Great Tasting Almond Milk Yogurt
11.21.21
After more than 100 years in farming, and 50 in the almond business, the founder of AYO Yogurt Matt Billings' family keeps up with consumer trends with a whopping 400% growth since 2020.
Since 1913, the Billing's family-owned and operated ranches sustainably farmed in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
Now, as more people are wanting non-dairy options, Non-GMO Project-verified AYO Almond Yogurt offers a full-flavored, heart-healthy alternative packed with rich probiotics and live, active cultures to support a balanced, plant-based diet.
Matt Billing's father began planting almonds in the '90s, with a flourishing almond farm, Matt is now connecting the company to consumers by producing almond yogurt, which is made by adding water and yogurt cultures to almond butter.
Billings’ heart and soul are put behind the brand, and he emphasizes passing down the farm to future generations, in a better state than he received and more sustainable. An amazingly humble, hard-working man, who is making a legacy. "It’s important to hand down a business better than when you received it," Billings said.
AYO Yogurt offers a vegan and plant-based nutrition with 20 almonds per cup, No-GMO less added sugar than many other non-dairy varieties (160 calories or less per serving), and blended with organic strawberries, blueberries, vanilla, or peaches, it’s a high-fiber grab-and-go snack that provides healthy fats and balanced nutrition.
AYO Yogurt can be found at local Ralphs and Bristol Farms.

The Pike Restaurant & Bar Brings Back the ‘Turkurrito’
11.21.21
Leave it to Chris Reece to create the “Turkurrito,” a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner wrapped in a tortilla. The former Social Distortion drummer and owner of The Pike Restaurant & Bar along Retro Row in Long Beach is offering the burrito for a limited time only for $16.95. A vegan option is available as well.
The Turkurrito features slices of deep-fried turkey with stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla.
“Some might think Thanksgiving dinner served burrito-style is an acquired taste,” said Reece, who is a hands-on restaurateur and often seen behind the bar much to the delight of Social Distortion fans. “But we have offered it every year, and it’s incredibly popular with our guests.”
The Pike is also toasting the holidays with an array of holiday cocktails, including:
The Cobbler
Lip Service Rye Whiskey, Green Chartreuse, Peach Syrup $12
Apple Spiced Mule
Vodka, Apple Spice, Ginger, Lime $11
Rummin For The Holidays

Pumpkin Spiced Hot Toddy
Tullamore Dew, Pumpkin Spice, Ginger, Lemon $10
Pike’s Irish Coffee
Tullamore Dew, Baileys, Borghetti Espresso Liqueur, Coffee $10
The Pike, known for its eclectic dining room of Long Beach and Social Distortion memorabilia, expansive bar, and outdoor Tiki lounge, also features live entertainment almost every night of the week.
